Built in 2007
Couch’s Subs & Grocery is owned by John & Mary Lou Couch. John & Mary Lou purchased the grocery store/sandwich business from Don & Carole Gibboney in 2002 and operated it in the village of McAlevy’s Fort for five years. Mary Lou’s dream was to be able to better serve the people of the Stone Valley area with ample parking and a place to sit and enjoy good company, good food, and a country atmosphere. So in 2007 a new store was built on the family dairy farm. Lakevue Farm was purchased in 2003 from John’s parents and the Couch's operate it along with their oldest son, Travis, milking 70 to 80 registered Holsteins and raising 70 young stock for replacement and marketing. Travis married Rebecca Mowrer in 2008 and she is a registered nurse at Lewistown Hospital, working in Labor & Delivery. Travis & Becky have three daughters, Lydia, Emily & Kensington. Mark, our second son, is a welder at Stone Valley Welding. Mark is married to Leah Yoder and has a daughter Maggie. Matthew, our youngest son, graduated from Brewery School in England and is currently a Senior Brewer for Victory Brewing in Downingtown, PA. Maggie the oldest granddaughter is a regular at the store and the second granddaughter Lydia is fast learning the ropes. The farm has been in the Couch family since 1947, when John’s grandfather purchased it. We hope you enjoy your visit to our store, the country scenery, food and visitation. We are here to serve you the customer, and hope your time spent here is quiet, relaxing and makes you feel like you were just at Grandma's house for dinner.
